Academic Integrity Policy

Chicago Institute of Hypnosis and Coaching is committed to a culture of academic integrity, personal responsibility, and professional ethics. We expect all students, instructors, and staff to uphold high standards of honesty in all academic and professional activities.

1. Purpose and Principles

This policy is designed to promote honesty, fairness, and respect within the educational environment. The Institute follows the standards of the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE), the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH).

2. Definition of Academic Integrity

Academic integrity means completing one’s own work honestly, respecting intellectual property, demonstrating honesty in assessment, and taking responsibility for one’s actions.

  • personal responsibility for learning
  • fairness and respect in the educational process

3. Prohibited Conduct

a. Plagiarism

  • presenting another person’s work as one’s own
  • failure to provide proper citations
  • use of AI-generated content without disclosure, where disclosure is required

b. Cheating

  • use of unauthorized materials
  • giving or receiving unauthorized assistance on individual assignments

c. Fabrication

  • falsifying data, case studies, or documents

d. Misrepresentation of Identity

  • completing coursework or assessments on behalf of another individual
  • providing false personal or academic information

e. Unauthorized Collaboration

  • completing individual assignments as a group
  • sharing confidential or restricted course materials

4. Consequences of Violations

  • formal warning
  • failing grade for the assignment or course
  • dismissal from the program without refund
  • revocation of certification
  • notification to ICF and/or NGH, when applicable

5. Reporting Violations

Violations may be reported anonymously. All reports are reviewed impartially and confidentially.

6. Appeals Process

Appeals may be submitted within seven (7) business days. Final decisions are made by the Academic Director.

7. Student Responsibility

Students are responsible for understanding and complying with this policy, completing their work independently, and seeking clarification when expectations are unclear.

8. Alignment with Professional Codes

This policy aligns with the ethical standards and professional codes of ICF, NGH, and the regulatory requirements of IBHE.

9. Policy Updates

This policy may be updated in response to changes in legislation, accreditation standards, or institutional requirements.
